Hi a belated Happy New Year to all of You!
2012 didn't start as well for us as we had hoped!
I received a call for help for my other business Johnboys Appliance Repairs, from a customer on Monday 2nd January 2012. The conversation went like this, "John my oven won't stay on manual it keeps turning onto automatic can you do anything? As they could not cook I agreed to go over to Seaford to see what I could do. The single oven unit had to be removed to get to the timer connections, as I lifted it out I felt something pull in my back! Anyway I could not fix the oven unit timer so as it was an old oven unit a new one was supplied and fitted on the Tuesday job done. Details for Johnboys is on the Links page.
We had a late Christmas party on the 6th with The Langham Hotel and even though a little sore my back seemed fine. We also had a stand at the winter gardens two day wedding fair Saturday & Sunday and again my back seemed to be mending its self ok. Thursday 12th January got up at 5am to go off to my Cuckmere Chapter BNI breakfast meeting in Peacehaven. Shaved, showered and went to put my underpants on! The next thing I knew was I felt pain like I have never experienced before and just collapsed on the floor and could not move!
Not to bore you all the outcome of this terrible pain was confirmed by my G.P. as I have prolapsed disc in my lower back which is pressing on my left sciatic nerve which in turn is why i have pain all through my left buttock and down my left leg to my ankle!
I was prescribed a cocktail of tablets, so if it was possible to stand up and shake I would rattle!
After many sleepless nights and living life in a dining room chair during the day, as I am writing this I finally think it is starting to mend as the tablets are now helping to stop the pain so I had my first night’s sleep back in my bed last night, so it is looking good for our next gig on 4th February.
As they say you never know what is round the corner so we are so thankful we did not have any gigs booked between the 6th Jan and 4th Feb as I am not too sure how Sue would have managed as a Presenter/DJ LOL!
As I have had plenty of time sitting at the dining room table I have revamped the website, we hope you like it any comments please to twitter @music2partyVDJ or Facebook John or Sue Webb.
On a more positive note we picked up a gold wedding and two silver weddings from the 2 day wedding fair, as well as receiving a lot of favourable interest from hotels exhibiting there as after picking up our flyers with our 3 wedding packages and prices on, some returned and enquired do we really offer all that in our Gold and Silver packages for these prices! One big hotel went so far as to say we are paying more than that just for a disco, no video disco and none of these other extras printed here! So watch this page for more news when we get it!
Our next wedding fair is with the Brighton Racecourse on Sunday 19th February we are providing our full video disco & lighting setup and I will compere for the fashion show as well as having a table to take bookings.
The word seems to have got out on the wedding fair jungle drums as we have been asked to do the same at the Arundel and Chichester wedding fairs later in the year.
If you missed it take a look at a young magician Kris Singh we came across him over Christmas at The Langham Hotel and at only 17 some of his tricks are amazing, if that young man doesn't end
up on the pro circuit when he is older and then onto TV then I am no longer a very good judge at spotting talent having worked on the live pro scheme myself.
As we said on our presenters’ page we have so far 30 confirmed bookings which can't be bad for a relatively new business not yet 5 years old as we are still in January 2012!
We are free New Years Eve this year as the Langham alternate between a band and disco so this year it will be the bands turn. So any hotels in a 25 mile radius of Eastbourne give us a call and we can offer you a very favourable deal!
We have now received invitations to audition for two big agencies so again will tell you more news when we have it.
We still full members of A.Q.E.S. (Association of Quality Entertainment Services) and also members of SEDA, AMPdj and now we are full members of Need a Disco .com so you can be sure and trust Music2Party not to let you down!
